University of Minnesota Law School faculty aids radical homosexual "rights" movement

Members of the University of Minnesota Law School faculty join the ranks of Berzerkly, NYU, Carleton, and other leftist schools in opposition to our national security, "Law schools to fight amendment".

Law faculty members from the University are supporting a consortium of legal scholars heading to the nation’s Capitol in December to contend the constitutionality of a military recruitment law.

The Solomon Amendment of 1996 stipulates that universities receiving federal funding must allow military recruiters the same access to students as any other career counselor or prospective employer, or risk losing funding.

The Law School’s faculty, along with others in the Forum for Academic Institutional Rights, contends that the military’s ban on gays serving openly violates the First Amendment rights of universities.

Some law schools are smarter:

...like Harvard’s, banned campus recruiting altogether for a short time, but when faced with a $400 million funding loss, decided to allow the recruiting to resume, according to a September Yale Times report.
In other words, they throw out their supposed principles when money is at stake.

Mike Grewe, co-chairperson for the Queer Student Cultural Center at the University, lauded the law school faculty members’ opposition to the amendment.

“I think it’s great that the faculty is taking a stand,” Grewe said. “They’re taking a stand against what we see as a basic violation of human rights.”
This is not a human rights or civil rights issue. Those with the homosexual proclivity have the same rights as anyone else. They are presently equal, but want to be more equal.

In 2004, the University [Minnesota] received $351 million for research from the federal government, according to the office for the University’s vice president for research.
They'll cave, because they love money more than their principles, but they've exposed themselves to be in opposition to the values that the vast majority of the country espouses, as well as an important national security issue.

Shame on those University of Minnesota Law School faculty who are participating in this "movement".

Thank you Mr. President

President Bush gets whacked by the left for micromanaging the economy with his special controls. He was personally responsible for high gas prices and threatening inflation.

So we're waiting for the liberals to give him full credit for "the fastest pace of growth since the first quarter of 2004 and well above the 3.3 percent rate of growth in the second quarter."

Still waiting.

"It's about as perfect a GDP report as you can get," said John Silvia, chief economist for Wachovia Securities. "We had thought the economy was doing OK, but we didn't think it was doing this well."
Any time now liberals, anytime.

Liberals solve violent crime problem

The liberals in the upscale south Minneapolis neighborhoods around Lake Harriet didn't care so much about the violence in Minneapolis mayor Ryback's Uptown area. They didn't care much about the robberies at the University of Minnesota. They didn't pay much attention to Rambix' reporting the Minneapolis Quagmire. But when the violence hit the socialist cocoon of Southwest Minneapolis and the Lake Harriet area, their spines stiffened and they called a meeting. With the Park Board.

They put their liberal heads together and came up with a solution to stop the violent animals from preying on normal people: The Victim Illumination Project.

Several residents of the nearby communities said safety in the area could be improved with better lighting. "There are some areas right now around the lakes that do not have proper lighting,” said Bob Bayer, Tillman’s employer. The Minneapolis Park Board did vote unanimously in February to install new lights, a plan that was approved by the mayor. However, a member of the city’s traffic committee decided against the plan.

See, if the traffic committee hadn't squelched the plan in February, Lake Harriet would have had its own little Green Zone, and safety would have prevailed.

This kind of thinking from liberals, of course, is what got them into the situation in the first place. This is real head-in-the-sand behavior. What would Rambix do? Glad you asked. This would take a concerted effort from different segments of government and society, but it could be done:

  • Cut off instant welfare and benefits for out-of-state arrivals. At the least institute a one year waiting period. We need to eliminate the large magnet.
  • Employ truth-in-sentencing. There are too many plea deals that put the criminal back on the street in short order, too much supervised release, too much of too little. Criminals should fear going to jail or prison.
  • Expel new felons from the state. If you commit a felony, you go back to where you came from.
  • Crack down on gangs using RICO statutes; involve the Feds as necessary. Expel gang members from the state.
  • Prison time should be spent at hard labor.
  • Zero tolerance for crime in the city. Institute Giuliani's New York City model in Minneapolis.
  • Fast-track criminal court cases. Reallocate funds from liberal pork programs and fund more prosecutors, courts and jails.

This is all a pipe dream, of course, as long as the liberals are in charge. So the hope is that (1) conservatives will take power, (2) liberals tire of getting batted around and grow a spine, or (3) the populace gets tired of the crime and demand action.

Red Star reports more Minneapolis robberies

Sorry, it's only a joke; the Red Star didn't report anything of the sort. The Red Star apparently doesn't have the resources to employ reporters who can dig up stories on a massive crime wave sweeping Minnesota's largest city.

For current information on the Minneapolis Quagmire of violent crime, one needs to go to the smaller local papers, such as the The Minnesota Daily, the campus newspaper of the University of Minnesota: "Recent crime elicits neighborhood response". This paper reports more disturbing news:

Three more robberies last week added to a spree of similar events around campus and have raised concerns among area residents.

When will the populace rise up and demand action from our impotent city "leaders" such as Minneapolis mayor Ryback, and Hennepin County District Attorney Amy Klobuchar?

James De Soto, neighborhood coordinator for Southeast Como Improvement Association, said residents have expressed concern about recent crimes around the University and he is trying to keep them informed.

“People are concerned, and they don’t feel safe anymore,” De Soto said. “And this isn’t acceptable.”
No, they don't feel safe. And for good reason.

“The aggravated nature of these crimes, and seeing weapons, that’s definitely got people concerned,” De Soto said. “The last year and a half has gotten substantially worse.”
Yes, things have gotten much worse. Rambix has compiled copious evidence of the out-of-control Minneapolis violence throughout 2005. Even if you live in a "safe" area on the outskirts of the city of Minneapolis, don't think that criminals aren't mobile. And don't think you won't find yourself in the city for one reason or another at some point. This problem is everyone's problem. We need to crush these outlaws now. Will our leaders lead?

Pioneer Press goes Red Star-like; how low can you go?

Rambix can't imagine a normal person reading this article without an unsafe increase in blood pressure: 'The worst day of my life' by Molly Millett of the Pioneer Press.

You may recall the story of the young woman, Naomi Gaines, who attempted to murder her 14 month old twin children by hurling their small bodies to their death off of a very high bridge in St. Paul over the Mississippi River. She then jumped off the bridge herself. She succeeded in killing one of the twins, and the other survived. Ms. Gaines also survived. Here's a picture of the killer [courtesy Pioneer Press]:

When reading the story you almost think you're reading a parody. If this is meant to be a serious article, the level of offensiveness is almost unimaginable. Let's start with an example. Do you know that 2 years after the murder of her child, Ms. Gaines has forgiven herself? Yes, indeed:

Gaines says she has made peace with herself.

"I used to have nightmares when it first happened. It was always something involving water. They were horrible," she says. "I haven't had one in a long time because I've long since forgiven myself for what happened."
By the way, the two children have the improbable names of Sincere Understanding Allah and Supreme Knowledge Allah. Are you joking? What kind of a parent would give these ridiculous names to her children? Apparently only a mother who would attempt to kill them (with a 50% success rate).

Why is the Pioneer Press profiling this piece of garbage? Why is Naomi Gaines getting out of prison in about 10 years? It's unimaginable. It shocks the conscience.

While her child's body rots in the the grave, Naomi "reads, writes and attends groups ranging from contemporary poetry to math skills to a mothers' support group."

If you're not mad yet, read this:

"I remember I was looking out the window of the county jail when I realized, 'He's dead; my son is dead,' " she says. "And I just cried. I cried for hours. I thought, 'I hope he doesn't think I don't love him.' "

She cried for hours. Hours. It was the worst day of her life.

And she hopes her son doesn't think she doesn't love him. Murder is love, apparently.

Please contact the Pioneer Press and let them know in no uncertain terms that this article is unconscionable, if not immoral. This killer should never, never be heard from again. Shame on the Pioneer Press for stooping to Red Star lows.

Red Star agenda - pro-liberal, pro-enemy?

The Opinion Exchange section of the Red Star today is mired in propaganda that will bring comfort to our enemies. We've noted previously that the Red Star has long-since dispensed with any notion of objectivity. If this isn't clear by now, it never will be.

The front page of the section in the Sunday 11/27/05 edition shows 12 pictures of "torture", with no explanation or context. Its not clear who or what organization is responsible for the "torture", its not clear who is in the pictures, and there is no explanation as to what happened. In other words, the Red Star propaganda machine wants to convey to the reader that there is a moral equivalence between America and our enemies. Joseph Goebbels would be proud.

The accompanying "torture" opinion piece is written by Douglas A. Johnson, executive director of the Center for Victims of Torture, based in Minneapolis. Mr. Johnson joins the cabal of leftist "thinkers" who are unclear on the ramifications of failure in the War on Terror. (By the way, the pro-enemy types argue that our fighting men and women will be abused when captured if America doesn't hold to high standards for prisoners. Does any thinking person believe that will make a difference? Does anyone recall the charred American corpses hanging from the Fallujah bridge, pre Abu Ghraib?).

The section contains another column from our favorite leftist editorial board member, Lori Sturdevant, gleefully proclaiming the demise of the Republican party.

The lead editorial is titled: "American's shameful shift on torture". Of course, the enemy will take comfort now that the torture threshold is anything above a stiff breeze, knowing that our Anti-American friends will howl and whine in response every move we make toward our goal of winning the war. The pro-enemy crowd does not share that goal, obviously.

The editorial cartoon in the same section is predictably anti-Bush.

In another column, Thomas Friedman bashes the president: "Time for a different president to emerge".

Several cartoons under the headline "Drawn and Quartered" are presented; all anti-Bush.

So, does anyone really believe the Red Star doesn't have an agenda, and that the Anti-American leftists don't want our enemies to prevail?

Minneapolis crime - It's a Quagmire!

We've posted incessantly about the Minneapolis/Uptown crime wave, trying to get the word out. The situation appears to have achieved some kind of critical mass, wherein even the MSM cannot ignore the Minneapolis Quagmire. Lo and behold, the Red Star checks in today: "Minneapolis robberies are up 21% over 2004".

Robberies in Minneapolis are on pace to reach their highest peak since 1997, according to the Police Department's robbery unit. Citywide, robberies are up 21 percent this year from the same time in 2004, police said. According to data released this week, there have been 2,462 robberies this year, compared with 2,038 at the same time last year.
The police are searching for answers:

Police said it's difficult to pinpoint exactly what's causing the increase, although Fossum attributed it partly to the simultaneous decrease in the number of officers.
Rambix has the answer: out-of-state scumbags have moved in, and have brought their criminal lifestyles with them.

Third Precinct Inspector Scott Gerlicher said there is a "roving group of young thugs" in his precinct in south Minneapolis who strike as a victim is nearing home.

Last week, there were three cases in that precinct in which a sawed-off shotgun was displayed; one victim was shot, but the injuries are not life-threatening, he said, adding that most victims are not harmed during the robbery.
A sawed-off shotgun is serious business. Let's destroy these animals, shan't we?

The story is spreading through responsible bloggers and media:

KSTP 5 Eyewitness News: "Minneapolis robberies could hit 10-year high".

Businesses are the targets in about one-third of the robberies, and those nearly always involve the use of a weapon, Fossum said. About two-thirds of robberies of individuals involve the brandishing of or threatening with a weapon or the use of physical force, including punching and kicking the victims, he said.

Charges related to the robberies have reached a record high. So far, charges have been filed in more than 300 robberies, most of them involving two to four defendants each, Fossum said.
Kennedy vs. The Machine: "Robberies Skyrocket in Amy's Minneapolis".

Amy Klobuchar: A law and order liberal — without the law and order.
People's Republic of Minnesota: "Crime and (no) Punishment".

Today's Strib includes this story about soaring robbery rates in Minneapolis where incidents are up a full 21% over 2004. Anyone who has spent any time walking around downtown Minneapolis knows that it has become increasingly more uncomfortable for the average citizen to feel safe as many of the street corners are full of hoodlums free to harass and intimidate pedestrians at will.
WCCO Channel 4 News: "Robberies nearing record high in Minneapolis".

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) The number of robberies in Minnesota's largest city is on the rise and could equal a peak of eight years ago, according to police department statistics.

Robberies are up 21 percent this year from the same time in 2004. According to data released this week, there have been 2,462 robberies this year, compared with 2,038 at the same time last year.

Lt. Michael Fossum, the robbery unit commander, said the number of robberies will probably approach or exceed 3,000 by year's end; the last time they hit that mark was 1997, with 3,326. Robberies steadily declined after 1995, when there were 3,577. The numbers began to climb again in 2003.

Armed robberies surge at University of Minnesota

You may see it on your local news, you won't see it in the Red Star, but you will see it at Rambix and the Red Star. Minneapolis armed violence is spilling over into the University of Minnesota campus, where you, or your daughter or son might be attending school with more things to worry about than some scumbag sticking a gun in their face: "2 robberies add to recent crime".

Two more robberies occurred near the University campus Monday night.
There is a rising trend of robberies close to campus and throughout Minneapolis, said Jim Long, crime prevention specialist for Minneapolis Police Department’s 2nd Precinct.

These two incidents bring the University area’s tally to at least four armed robberies in the past 18 days.
The crack reporters at the Red Star must be away at diversity training, because there has been nothing, repeat: nothing, on the 20+ robberies in Uptown Minneapolis, and the 4+ robberies at the University of Minnesota, which is located on the edge of downtown Minneapolis.

Fortunately, one MSM outlet, the Minnesota Daily campus newspaper, is responsible enough to warn the public. After all, isn't that the purpose of a newspaper - to disseminate news? One could hardly argue that violent robberies are not news.

You may question Rambix' use of the term "violent" for robberies in which weapons are brandished, but not used. Once you pull a gun or a knife, it's considered violent because of the imminent threat of death or injury. Here's a definition from the FBI:

Violent crime is composed of four offenses: murder and nonnegligent manslaughter, forcible rape, robbery, and aggravated assault. According to the Uniform Crime Reporting Program's definition, violent crimes involve force or threat of force.
All of the reported incidents involved use of force, or threat of force. If you look back in the Rambix archives for the Spring 2005 rash of robberies, you'll note that the use of force escalated until people were actually shot or injured. That's why it's important to stop the criminals immediately.

Jerry Rinehart, associate vice provost for Student Affairs, said the number of incidents is “alarming.”

So far, the University has sent alerts, but it won’t this time because it’s so similar to the last robbery incident, Rinehart said.

Also, the University has posted a note to parents on the University Parent Web site that includes safety tips, Reinhart said.

First-year biomedical engineering student Jenna Shaw said she’s scared with all the robberies so close to campus.

She said she does walk by herself at night, but she always keeps her cell phone on her.

Special education sophomore Whitney Bartle said that because of campus crime she makes sure to never go out late at night by herself, but the news of the robberies didn’t shock her.

I’m not really surprised.”
You shouldn't be surprised, young lady, when mayor Ryback is at the helm.

WCCO [Minneapolis] Channel 4 website has some warm fuzzys for us: "Uptown's Holiday Tradition: More Cops, Less Crime".

(WCCO) Minneapolis The Uptown shopping and nightlife district in Minneapolis is trendy any time of year, but the holiday season really packs them in. That's why an annual tradition of crime prevention started there years ago.

"We just want people to feel comfortable when you want to come to dinner (or) you have a holiday party," said Cindy Lerick Fitzpatrick, executive director of the Uptown Association. "It's that kind of (feeling): 'Oh, wow, there's a police officer.'"

For more than 15 years, the Uptown Association has hired extra police officers during the holiday season to walk the beat.
Yes, we hired those extra cops the same way we've done for years in Uptown (wink, wink).

"When there's added enforcement, people have less incentive to commit some random act," Uptown resident Brianna Vefiege said.

That gives an added sense of security to those who live in, work in and stop by Uptown.

"I really feel safe here," Devenney said. "I've lived in other cities, and for the size of this city, I think the crime is really kind of minimal."

In the past two months, there have been eight robberies in the area. The most serious was a carjacking.

"The robberies are not increasing in the Uptown area per se," Arneson said. "The robberies that we've been having have occurred on the outskirts, out in the neighborhoods late at night -- people walking by themselves. Sometimes they're intoxicated."
So as long as we don't drink in Uptown, don't walk by ourselves, don't walk around lake Harriet, don't go on the "outskirts" of Uptown (where thousands of young people live), then we should be ok. Have fun!

Rambix sent an email to the Red Star "news tip" department giving them a "heads up" on the crime story:

11/23/05

I understand you're looking for news tips. There has been an escalation of
violent crime in the Uptown Minneapolis area, with over 20+ robberies, many with
weapons. A man was recently given a savage beating while walking around Lake
Harriet. To my knowledge, neither of these stories have appeared in your
paper.

I hope you have the opportunity to report these imminent
public safety issues.

Rambix
http://www.rambix.blogspot.com/
Another email was sent to Minneapolis mayor Ryback:

11/23/05

Mr. Mayor,

Uptown Minneapolis is once again awash in violent crime, and I'm afraid the word isn't getting out, and the public is at risk. In addition to the Uptown violence, a man was recently given a savage beating at Lake Harriet, and people are frightened.

Can you tell me what steps you're taking to alert the public and interdict the crime? I appreciate your attention to this important issue.

Sincerely,

Rambix
There have been no replies to date. If replies are received, they will be posted. Rambix encourages you to contact local officials so that the word can get out.

Have a happy and safe Thanksgiving everyone.

Meanwhile, France simmers

Don't think that because the news cycle is light on France now, that the problem has gone away. Tension is in the air; nothing has been solved: "Bravado and anger in riot suburb".

The wave of arson attacks against cars and schools in impoverished areas of France has subsided for the most part.

But the anger among young people of ethnic minority backgrounds has not died down.
France is facing a festering underclass that is so well "connected", that it may already be too late for French native citizens. The riots are being perpetrated by teenagers; what happens when grown men with more resources carry on the intifada? They're out there, waiting.

The immediate reason they give for the violence is the tough policing policy of France's Interior Minister Nicolas Sarkozy.
Have they considered becoming law-abiding people in order to avoid the "tough policing"? Have they considered going back to their countries of origin if they don't like France? There's more:

"We're armed," says Mohamed. "We're well armed and in 2007, if Sarkozy becomes president, we'll have a real war. That's why they didn't want to attack Iraq, because they know if they attack Iraq, there'll be big trouble in France."
There already is big trouble in France.

Red Star weighs in on Uptown robberies

Here's what the Red Star has to say about the recent escalation of Uptown violence:

ALERT - Man beaten at Lake Harriet, Minneapolis

Local (Minneapolis) residents know that the jewels of the city are the 3-lake chain of Lake Calhoun, Lake of the Isles, and Lake Harriet, with their walking paths, bike paths, and parkland. Lake Calhoun attracts a younger, somewhat wilder crowd, but the most trouble you might find is property crime - thefts from vehicles and the like. Lake of the Isles is quiet and more residential.

Lake Harriet has generally been considered the crown jewel of the three. Like the others, it's often crowded with families, and joggers, and walkers, and so on. It's very highly regarded. Lake Harriet was also considered the safest of the 3 primary lakes, with very little trouble.

Until now.

Channel 9 News reports tonight that a man was severly beaten by three teenagers while he was out for a walk. He suffered a broken pelvis and some other fractures. He is bruised and has lacerations. The news reported that the criminals came up behind him and pushed him over and stomped on his back and other body parts. He told them he had no money, but they continued the savage beating.

The man is an employee at a local hardware store in the Linden Hills area of Minneapolis. Based on the news report, it appears that he is well-known and well-liked. Residents are fearful and a community meeting is to take place (location and time presently unknown).

What in God's name is going on in Minneapolis? Have thugs declared war on the good people of the city?

Another Uptown robbery

Strap on your Kevlar, holster your Glock, and visit Uptown Minneapolis!

Channel 5 Eyewitness News is the only local news outlet so far to mention yet another Uptown robbery from last night. Meanwhile, Uptown businesses are paying for additional police protection to combat the rat bastards preying on innocent people:

Uptown residents will soon see a more prominent police presence after a series of robberies in the neighborhood, but they won’t be provided by the city. The Uptown Business Association will be paying off-duty, uniformed Minneapolis police officers to patrol the area on foot. The officers will cost the association $15,000.
They certainly need to do something.

Where does the blame lie? Rambix faults the dysfunctional city government, and maybe the police brass, and without question the milquetoast judges in Hennepin County for the mess they've made of a once-fine city. Liberal policies simply don't work, obviously. We have criminal pipelines importing losers from ghettos across America (and the world) just to get a taste of our irrational welfare programs and lenient justice system. Crime is good business in the Minneapolis area when you don't have much fear of consequences.

And Red Star columnists such as Doug Grow, Ruben Rosario, and Nick whatshisname are virtual advertisements for our nanny state, what with crying their eyes out in one column after another over the myriad "injustices" befalling local criminals.

Meanwhile, more good people get victimized:

Just this morning, a woman was robbed around 2 a.m. on 25th and Emerson Aves. South, according to police. She was able to get to SuperAmerica and call police. They got away with her purse and the victim’s face was injured, police said.

Uptown violence explodes (again)

Legitimate news sources can't wait around for the Red Star to catch up to a significant story such as the new wave of Uptown violent robberies. This means that the Red Star is forcing their ever-dwindling number of subscribers to seek alternate sources of news for information on current events, particularly when it involves public safety. Yes, we know there isn't much ink left after feature articles celebrating homosexuality, liberal politics, and anything anti-Bush are printed, but not reporting on crimes that affect many of their liberal readers (as well as normal people) is inexcusable.

As of the time of this post, there is no story on the Red Star web site on the resumption of the Uptown robberies. The astute reader will recall that this blog started in April of 2005 specifically because of the springtime Uptown robberies. If you go back to the very first post, you'll find it's about Uptown robbers:

"Be on the lookout for "three young men""

Well, tonight on the Channel 9 news, the lead story was the Uptown robberies. And guess who the suspects are? Paraphrasing: A group of 20-25 Somali males, who are committing armed robberies around Minneapolis, and particularly Uptown. And who were the suspects back in April? See these archived posts:

Uptown thugs bagged; Red Star fined for malpractice

The Uptown crime wave and the PC trifecta

From the May 3rd, 2005 Pioneer Planet website:

"Minneapolis police have captured four teenagers they say could be responsible for 22 "bold and brazen" armed robberies last month that targeted late-night partiers leaving the trendy Uptown neighborhood's restaurants and bars. The teens were arrested early Sunday after police say they pulled a gun on a couple and demanded money. None of the teenagers had been charged as of Monday. The suspects — Abikani Mohammed Ahmed, 19; Abdulkadir Musse Jama, 18; Abdishakur Adan Hassan, 18, and a 16-year-old whose name police did not release — were being held in the Hennepin County Jail."
The suspects in April/May were Somali males, who, by the way, were inexplicably released. There has been no update or follow up that we're aware of.

Rambix is livid. How does the Red Star get away with this? Are they avoiding the story for PC reasons? Laziness? If they printed the story, would they print the suspect descriptions? Why are 20-25 Somali males committing violent crimes in Minneapolis with virtual impunity?

If anyone cares, please write the Red Star.

***RED ALERT UPDATE***

It turns out the above post understates the danger in light of a recently discovered post on the WCCO website: "Robberies Plague SE Minneapolis Precinct".

(WCCO) Minneapolis Nineteen robberies were reported in Minneapolis' 3rd Precinct between Nov. 8 and Nov. 15, and police said nearly half of those robberies involved deadly weapons. Most of the incidents occurred between 6 p.m. and 11 p.m., police said. Eight incidents involved firearms and one involved a knife. Police say some of the robberies involved more than one suspect. In three cases, suspects walked up and assaulted victims without warning.
Suspect information in this story seems to be variable:

While there have been arrests in connection with some of the robberies, officers are asking people in the neighborhood to take caution and be on the lookout for suspects.

Victims' descriptions of suspects vary from incident to incident, police said.

One suspect was described as a black male in his early 20s, standing between 5-feet-8 and 5-feet-10, weighing 140 to 160 pounds.

Another group of suspects was described as a group of seven to eight Native American males around 25 years old.

Police say three robberies were committed by a group of males wearing ski masks.

Another suspect was described as a black male with a light complexion and a thin face. The suspect is 15-19 years old and 5-foot-5 or 5-foot-6, police said.
This is serious business folks. Please contact the mayor, your councilmember, or the police with your concerns.

New Orleans family and misplaced liberal intentions

JB Doubtless from Fraters Libertas was one step ahead of me on this one: "Best intentions weren't enough to make a home". See his insightful post here on the story of the "displaced" New Orleans family that was taken in by two lesbians from Montevideo, MN of all places. This deal had bad juju from the start.

Stunned by the evacuees' desperation, a white Montevideo family of five opened its hearts and home to an impoverished, three-generation black family of eight from Louisiana.
The striking thing about this article is how oddly it is written. It's not hard to see that the New Orleans family, how shall we say, hasn't had much exposure to polite society. The reporter, Jill Burcum, takes great pains to minimize the reports of uncivilized behavior.

[Here's the original Rambix post on this story, from 10/2/05, when things were happy, happy]

The N.O. family lasted about a month. Here's Ms. Burcum's description of the parting:

Barely a month after arriving in Montevideo, Nicole and Dorothy (Dot) Singleton, the mother and grandmother of the Louisiana family, broke ties with their hosts, Tracey and Tanya Thornbury, and moved to the Twin Cities.

The parting was painful and sometimes ugly.

The Thornburys called the Montevideo police to their home. When it was time to take the kids out of the Thornbury home and to the Twin Cities, Dot Singleton asked Chippewa County Family Services to assist.

Each family still feels bruised, though calm has come with time and distance.
The Thornburys called the police to their home...why? That's a substantial fact, but there is no reason given. And "each family feels bruised"? What kind of new age gibberish is that? Rambix has an alternate suggestion: "The Thornburys invited these ingrates into their home, and in no time they took advantage of the lesbian's generosity".

In the crowded house, which has five bedrooms but limited space in the living room and dining room, tensions built. There were charges that the Singletons weren't doing their fair share of the chores. There were differences over what types of movies the kids could watch. Then there were letters from Nicole's boyfriend, in jail for felony burglary in Louisiana. The Thornburys worried that the boyfriend would get out on parole and come to Montevideo, so they read the letters.
Ok, so the Singletons are lazy, ungrateful, demanding, have felon criminal boyfriends; why not let them into your home with your young children?

It gets better:

Dot stayed behind with the kids. The Thornburys grew concerned about her, too, and believed she was drinking a lot of whiskey every night.
What the lesbians didn't know is that they generously opened their home to a family from the very bottom of society. Race isn't necessarily an issue here; the underclass is the underclass, and behavioral problems can go hand-in-hand with that strata of society. Unfortunately, they found out the hard way. This is consistent with liberalism, however. Conservatives simply use common sense to figure this stuff out in advance. Liberals have to be hit over the head a few times to get the picture.

If you read the article, take note of the strange way it's written. Ms. Burcum presents it as though the Singelton's behavior is normal, but just different from the Thornbury's, and thus the conflict. She doesn't consider the fact that the Singleton's are lowlifes. Are there lowlifes in Ms. Burcum's world?

Thanks, JB, for exposing the other side of this story.

Red Alert - Uptown Minneapolis crime escalating

As documented in this blog starting in the spring and throughout the summer and fall, violent crime in Minneapolis, particularly Uptown Minneapolis has been out of control. What the statistics don't show is that these violent acts are not gang-on-gang or criminal-on-criminal, they are criminal on innocent people.

The recent rash of violent robberies has targeted some of our most vulnerable citizens - the latest case a mother and her two year old daughter who live in the Uptown area. This follows the previous incident (also the previous post) in which a young woman going to the gym was carjacked.

A woman says she was getting out of her car with her 2 year-old daughter when a young man with a gun confronted her and demanded money. The woman says she was confronted after she parked her car in front of her home in Uptown Thursday night. "I heard him cock the gun. We're both traumatized because this happened right in front of my house. I don't feel safe in front of my house," she told 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS.
Message to Mayor Ryback - take control of your city!

The Red Star will likely bury the story. They won't connect this latest insult to the multitude of violent incidents that have plagued the Uptown area since spring of 2005. It's all been documented in Rambix and the Red Star, and remains in the archives. The average person may see the story, but will dismiss it as an isolated incident. Little do they know that it isn't isolated, and they are in danger in Uptown.

As of the time of this posting, the Minneapolis Police have not issued a crime alert. The online articles do not give a suspect description, so people do not know what to look for.

We're not trying to be alarmist, but be forewarned: You are in danger visiting Uptown Minneapolis until mayor Ryback can gain control of his city.

More Uptown Minneapolis crime

More violent crime affecting the "average person" on Minneapolis mayor Ryback's watch. The victim's mistake this time? Going to the health club: "Woman carjacked at Uptown health club".
A woman was attacked and her car stolen Monday night as she was about to enter a health club in a busy neighborhood.

Mercedes Heiden had just parked at the Uptown YWCA when a man with a gun approached her, demanding her keys and wallet. She says the suspect is a teenage boy.

“He held a 9 millimeter up and cocked it back like he was chambering a bullet, and said ‘Give me your wallet and give me your keys,’” said Heiden.
No suspect description? The victim was astute enough to get a good description of the weapon, so it's hard to believe she couldn't describe the suspect. Since there is no suspect description, we have to apply Rambix' theory of media political correctness: If there is no suspect description, it is a "protected" minority, i.e. black.

"My car is gone, everything is gone, but I'm lucky to be alive," said Heiden. "It's very upsetting that you can't get out of your car in the parking lot and go to the gym without having to look over your shoulder both ways."
Not in Minneapolis, anyway.

Heiden says she is not intimidated, however. "I am not afraid,” she said. “I am not going to be afraid. I'm just really angry and I hope he is punished for what he has done."
God bless you.

Thanks again, mayor Ryback.

Unhealthy lifestyle

"HIV rate rises 8 percent among gay, bisexual men"

HIV infections among homosexual and bisexual men in the United States rose 8 percent last year, after remaining relatively stable the three previous years, new federal data show. The increase for the virus that causes AIDS compares with average annual declines of 4 percent among heterosexuals and 9 percent among intravenous-drug users from 2001 to 2004, according to a report in this week's issue of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's Morbidity & Mortality Weekly Report.
This reflects a sad state of affairs for people leading a high-risk lifestyle.

"By transmission category, men who have sex with men continued to account for the largest number of [HIV] diagnoses overall" between 2001 and 2004, comprising 44 percent of the total caseload and 61 percent of male infections, according to the report, which tracked trends in HIV/AIDS diagnoses in 33 states. Of the 157,252 persons diagnosed with the virus in that period, 112,106 were men and 45,146 were women. More than 68,400 men acknowledged having had sex with other men.
For years, authorities have advised using protection to stop the transmission of the HIV virus. what they don't do is counsel behavioral changes, which are a certain solution to preventing viral transmission.

Rambix frequently discusses the adverse effects of political correctness - talking around the problems rather than to them. The above article is an example of the fallout of that approach.

Univ. of Minnesota students victimized by bureaucracy

Crimes are immediate, but notification is lengthy, at least in the parallel universe of your average state university:

University [Minnesota] police sent a crime alert Monday to all University students, faculty and staff members regarding an armed robbery that took place Friday night. Shortly after 10 p.m., a student was outside near Shevlin Hall when one to four men approached him, showed a handgun and demanded the student’s wallet and cell phone, according to the alert.

When serious crimes are committed on campus, the University has a multistep system in place to alert students as quickly as possible. Sometimes, this process takes a few days.
Read it and weep: "Alerts a lengthy process. The University has a multistep system in place to alert students about crimes."

Mayor Ryback owns the crime

Minneapolis Mayor Ryback has presided over Crime Central for so long, he now owns it lock, stock, and barrel.

Here's yet another example of the declining quality of life in the previously secure 5th Precinct. This, from the Minneapolis Police Safe Unit 11/15/05:

Theft from vehicles continues to occur much too frequently in the 5th Precinct. Last week, 42 of these crimes were reported to police. In the last month, 142 thefts from vehicles occurred! Mostly stereo's, purses and backpacks are being stolen. We are working hard to stop these crimes, with some good arrests, but we need your help as well. Of the recent thefts, many of the vehicles belonged to people visiting the area (at homes, shops, and restaurants) so it is important to remind our guests to not leave any valuables in their cars. Also, keep a watchful eye out for suspicious people walking near parked cars, looking in its windows or trying to open the door handles. This behavior warrants a call to 911!

Please pass this email onto friends and neighbors so that we may see a reduction in these crimes in the 5th Precinct.

A lot of people voted for mayor Ryback in the recent election. Congratulations on your choice.

Update on Univ. of Minnesota robberies

Blogger props to Michael and Lunch for pointing ol' Rambix to some links on the U of M robberies. Here's one: "ROBBERIES AT GUNPOINT".

Since the beginning of the academic year there have been a series of street
robberies
occurring in the neighborhoods near campus, with several in the Marcy Holmes area. This past weekend, one armed robbery of a student occurred on the East Bank campus. The suspects have been described as 1-4 black males, late teens to early twenties. They have confronted one or two victims at a time, sometimes engaging in brief conversations. In a number of cases a handgun has been produced. There have been no injuries, but the presence of the weapon is of great concern.

Indeed a handgun is a concern. It's a very big concern. This isn't just your random crackhead, like the oversized Chicago punk the police recently took down. This appears to be deliberate groups of males; very dangerous.

The University of Minnesota Police Department (UMPD) and the Minneapolis Police are working together daily on this pattern. In the meantime, a few tips for self protection include:

* Be aware of your surroundings, especially in the off-campus areas.
When possible, stay in well-lit areas where people are gathered.

* These events have taken place mostly from 9:00 PM to 3:00 AM. If you must travel by foot through the neighborhoods during those hours it would be preferable to travel with a group.

* When walking on campus and in the blocks adjoining campus, you can call 624-WALK for an escort. Student Monitors carry radios linking them directly to UMPD police dispatch.

* If you are confronted by one or more persons armed with a firearm, cooperate and surrender belongings upon demand.
They accidentally forgot to include information about the handy gun permits you can get for this very reason. It must have slipped their minds.

Ok, that's a little shot at the authorities for recommending passive victimhood, but this is serious business. Folks, if you have kids at the school, have them take a personal self-defense course which can increase their awareness and confidence. Take advantage of the escorts. It's also very important to be aware and alert, and if you're intoxicated you don't have that and are setting yourself up for trouble.

Here's the Minneapolis Police link: "Attention U of M students and area residents November 15, 2005".

Now isn't this interesting? They completely left out the suspect information, which the U of M police included:

Recently, there have been some personal robberies reported at the U of M and in the neighborhoods around the U. The last reported incident was on November 11 shortly after 10:00 p.m., near Shelvin Hall.

Unfortunately, the suspect information is limited. [ed. - it's only limited by your censorship!] Victims say they were confronted by groups of two to four males and had money stolen.
Notice in the U of M Police alert they have the suspect information: "The suspects have been described as 1-4 black males, late teens to early twenties". Then, in the Minneapolis Police dispatch, they say they don't have it. What's going on here?

Enough with the PC already, this is a public safety issue.

Gunpoint robberies on Univ. of Minnesota campus

There's a developing story of a series of gunpoint robberies on the University of Minnesota campus. There doesn't appear to be any information out there other than some video from Eyewitness 5 News. Oddly, there is nothing in the Minnesota Daily, the campus newspaper. The police have issued no crime alerts to date. We'll watch for more information.

Iraq good news you won't see in the Red Star

Here's a story the Red Star won't print, along with most of the MSM: "Internet Use Spreading Throughout Iraq". They won't print it because it's favorable news, and it would make George Bush look good. Anything that makes George Bush look good is an immediate disqualifier. Obviously.

By BASSEM MROUE, Associated Press WriterMon Nov 14, 5:01 AM ET

A few years ago, Ammar Adnan knew almost nothing about what was going on in the world of karate. But now Adnan, who heads Iraq's karate federation, is in contact with groups across the world, closely following events and championships wherever they occur. It's all because of the Internet cafes — scarce during Saddam Hussein's rule — now spreading throughout Iraq.

Access to the internet is not only a positive sign of progress (think of the necessary infrastructure), it can also be life-changing for the common Iraqi. The internet can expand their world far beyond their borders. They will also be exposed to the American left, who would like nothing more than for the Iraquis to fail, out of their white-hot hatred of George Bush. But they will also be exposed to the millions of clear-thinking folks who want to see their fledgling democracy succeed.

Now that many are enjoying a higher income than under Saddam, thousands of Iraqis regularly pack shops throughout the country to check their e-mail, chat and surf — despite fears that any public place can be attacked.

"I do much of my work on the Internet," said the well-built Adnan, after checking his e-mail Friday at a cafe in eastern Baghdad.
It's incredible what information the MSM shields from us.

Ibrahim Mahamoud, 24, now goes twice a week to an Internet cafe near his house to chat with friends and relatives living abroad.
"I used to speak with my relatives who live abroad once every few months," said Mahamoud, looking back and forth to the screen as he spoke. "Now I can chat with them anytime I want."
Who says there is no hope for democracy in Iraq?

You won't see this in the MSM: French riots continue

French President Jacques Chirac has discovered the cause of the riots: racism. And what would the typial liberal see as a cure? Spend money!

He condemned the "poison" of racism, and announced measures for the training of 50,000 youths in 2007.
While the MSM has virtually called the riots over, for some reason Chirac is going to extend the curfew:

He also confirmed that the government of Prime Minister Dominique de Villepin would ask parliament to extend an emergency law allowing the imposition of curfews in towns across the country.

The president spoke as police and local authorities around France waited anxiously for proof that the prolonged period of violence is coming to an end.

Some 284 cars were burned on Sunday night, down from a peak of over 1,000 a week earlier.
Only 284 cars burned in one night is certainly an improvement. Peace is just around the corner.

France would respond to the violence, Mr Chirac insisted, by staying faithful to the values of the Republic.

He called the rioters "sons and daughters of the Republic", but warned that respect among all French nationals was crucial to the long term strength of the nation.
Sons and daughters of the Republic? You think? They've assimilated quite nicely into the welcoming French culture.

Mr. Chirac, you thought that everything would be ok, as long as the "disaffected youth" were out of sight and out of mind. To your dismay, the festering, seething Muslim underclass has other things in mind. If and when this spate of rioting ends, it will not be the last time. Thrusting jobs and handouts on them won't appease their appetite for a piece of your country. They are 1 in 10 now in France, and growing much faster than the native population. The math is obvious.

Mssr. LePen has also weighed in. We've never understood why LePen has been slurred by the press as "far right". His ideas seem quite sensible in many cases. He might even be considered moderately conservative in the US. In France, however, anything to the right of center is "extreme":

On Monday evening the far-right leader Jean-Marie le Pen led a protest against France's immigration laws.

Addressing a crowd of about 300 National Front supporters he criticised France's immigration policies.

"We let in 10 million foreigners over 30 years - it's wild insanity. No country can handle that invasion," Mr Le Pen said [ed. - apparently the US can! Or not].

He said that France was now "paying the bill" for its "mad and criminal immigration from the Third World."

Red Star censors the Red Star watcher

Rambix appreciates the quote published in the Red Star opinion pages on 11/11/05 in the new feature called "Blog House", however, they managed to censor part of the original quote (The omitted words are in red):

Reacting to a Washington Times story on the unrest in France, "Rioters are Muslim, but don't say it": "In this age of 'tolerance' and 'diversity' and 'multiculturalism,' we often find a twisted portrayal of reality in the mainstream media. Many newspapers ... [like the Red Star] take great pains to suppress reference to race (in the event of bad news only) and national origin (if it will reflect poorly on the subject). This is called social engineering, which has nothing to do with the truth." Rambix and the Red Star (9)
Ok, Rambix and the Red Star was formed to expose the Red Star's frequent censorship and suppression of information unfavorable to their agenda. And then they censor a Rambix post! Where will it end?!

Men and women are the same, so get over it

If you have a mean face, clipped hair, and dangling earrings, this study is probably on your short list of holiday gifts. If you are female and have renounced all traces of femininity, then this is right up your alley. If you believe that the opinions of social scientists trumps your natural instincts, then this study is definitely for you: "The Gender Similarities Hypothesis".

The Red Star proudly publishes and article on this study by reporter Gail Rosenblum on 11/11/05: "Time for a truce?".

Anyone Red Star reader with a modicum of insight or an ounce of common sense knows that they have an agenda. We've detailed their agenda in this blog ad nauseum, but it bears repeating. The Red Star (including, but not limited to, their editorial board) endorses socialism and big government; multiculturalism; "equality", not meritocracy; virtually any and all alternative lifestyles; the rights of the criminal over the victim; and on and on. In short, they want to be like France (How's that working out for France, by the way?).

So this topic fits the Red Star's agenda. Here's a sample from the study:

"Saying, 'We can't communicate because you're a man and I'm a woman' doesn't work anymore," Hyde said. "Better, 'Let's work on it.' "

How, you may wonder, did this tidbit slip past us for, like, forever? Let's go back about 30 years. In the 1970s, Hyde was a new psychology professor at Bowling Green State University in Ohio, keenly interested in gender "differences," or at least in the assumption of gender differences. But, being an academician on the inside of, well, academia, she and her colleagues were developing hunches that were nothing like what we've been led to believe on the outside.
All this time we thought men were different from women. Our eyes have deceived us. We've been living in the stone age.

Human nature also plays a role. We have a huge tendency to categorize each other as a way of making sense of the world, Hyde said. We place people into boxes: male/female, black/white, gay/straight. Then we make them stay there.
Well, there you go. We can just be what we want to be. You can be a gay black man one day, and a straight white female the next. How fun this will be.

So, back to the '70s. During that decade, a new way of measuring gender difference became available. This method, called "meta-analysis," allowed social scientists like Hyde to analyze hundreds of similar studies at once to see what a whole bunch of researchers were finding out about the same topic.
This makes more sense. The 70's is about the time our culture started it's moral decline. The 70's is the decade that brought us abortion on demand, Jimmy Carter, malaise (see: Jimmy Carter), the disintegration of the nuclear family, the rise of Mid-East terrorism (see: Jimmy Carter), and exponential increases in drug use (see: Jimmy Carter).

Here's some of the "gender" study findings:

Gender differences were small or nonexistent for:

• Mathematical problem-solving.

• Verbal and nonverbal communication.

• Leadership effectiveness.

• Sexual satisfaction.

• Self-esteem.

• Moral reasoning.

Gender differences were strikingly large for:

• Masturbation: Much higher among men.

• Attitudes about casual sex: Men are far more approving.

• Motor behaviors: Guys can throw farther.

• Aggression: Higher among men, but the differences were less definitive than expected.
So men and women are the same, except that men can throw farther.

How naive we have been. Only a fine literary gem like the Red Star could publish something so profound.

MSM: The riots are over, plan your French holiday now

The MSM is trying, trying so hard, to play down the 17th continuous day of rioting in France. Oh, they'll mention 5 or 6 hundred burned cars, a couple of mosques firebombed here and there, several thousand police deployed to Parisian landmarks, but there's not too much to worry about. After all, a hundred or so cars torched in a given night is normal (see previous post).

Sometimes one has to look at the media across the pond to get a little more detail. The BBC has some nice pictures of the unrest in Lyon: "In pictures: France battens down". And Breitbart has some more information: "More Cars Torched in France Overnight".

The number of cars torched overnight in France climbed slightly over the previous night to 502 in a 16th night of unrest that took its heaviest toll on the French provinces, police said Saturday.

Security was boosted in the capital with some 3,000 police officers fanning out around strategic points to counter feared weekend attacks targeting Paris. Gatherings were banned from Saturday morning until Sunday morning.

"We returned to an almost normal situation in Ile de France," said national police chief Michel Gaudin, referring to the Paris region. Arson attacks were counted in 163 towns around France, he said. The count of those detained overnight stood at 206, bringing to 2,440 the number of suspects picked up in just over two weeks of unrest.

Two Molotov cocktails were tossed at a mosque Friday evening in the southern town of Carpentras, but it was not immediately clear whether the attack was linked to the unrest that has wracked the poor suburbs and small towns of France since Oct. 27. President Jacques Chirac demanded that investigators quickly find out who was behind the attack.
And the "youths" continue to have fun [courtesy BBC]:

And, of course, more on LGF, as per usual.

Chirac has lost control, who owns France?

The MSM and French authorities have gone to great lengths to minimize the rioting and unrest in France, which is now firmly countrywide and has passed the 16 day mark. According to a breaking AP report, French officials are very concerned about high profile targets, such as the Eiffel Tower. The Muslim terrorists had been for the most part confined to the ghettos and slums; now they have their sights set on France's jewels - landmarks and, by association, tourism.

PARIS — Some 3,000 police fanned out around Paris today to prevent attempts to attack high-profile targets such as the Eiffel Tower after a 16th straight night of unrest and arson.

Police were posted in suburban trains and at strategic points around the capital, where public gatherings considered risky were banned until Sunday morning. The ban followed calls for "violent actions'' posted on numerous Internet blogs and in text messages on cell phones.

"This is not a rumor,'' said National Police Chief Michel Gaudin. The famed Eiffel Tower and Champs-Elysees avenue were among potential targets, he said. "I think one can easily imagine the places where we must be highly vigilant,'' he told reporters today.
The French are afraid, as they should be. They are reaping what they have sowed. The combination of unfettered immigration, high concentrations of people who have no inclination to assimilate, and weak and indecisive leadership have brought the inevitable result - loss of control, unrest, rioting, insurrection.

It's interesting how Dominique de Villepin's offer to pay off the terrorists with programs, housing, assistance, have had no effect. Mssr. de Villepin: they don't want your programs; they want your country.

The riots have been marked by hundreds of nightly arson attacks on vehicles. Schools, gymnasiums, warehouses and public transport also have been favorite targets for arsons. A furniture store and a carpet store were burned overnight in Rambouillet, southwest of Paris, police said.

The number of vehicles burned overnight across the country climbed slightly to 502 from 463 the previous night, police said Saturday. The recent figures are down sharply from the peak of the violence.

"We returned to an almost normal situation in Ile de France,'' said Gaudin, referring to the Paris region. He said that 86 vehicles were burned, which he said was about normal.
This is perhaps one of the most incredible pieces of information to be exposed by this whole sordid affair: 86 vehicles burned in one night is "about normal"?

Perhaps the Frech lost control of their country long before the current anarchy.

Gun ban in San Francisco

As France smolders, and memories of Hurricane Katrina are fresh in our memories, most observers can see firsthand that when lawlessness and anarchy take over, we are all on our own. The government may or may not be there, but who wants to take that chance? By observing FEMA's response to the hurricane, for example, we see a government bureaucracy so enormous and cumbersome that no help comes for even several days.

So American city leaders now see the merit of citizens taking it upon themselves to defend themselves and others, right? Wrong, if you're a resident of San Francisco: "San Francisco Voters Approve Handgun Ban".

SAN FRANCISCO - Voters approved ballot measures to ban handguns in San Francisco and urge the city's public high schools and college campuses to keep out military recruiters.

The gun ban prohibits the manufacture and sale of all firearms and ammunition in the city, and makes it illegal for residents to keep handguns in their homes or businesses.
Surely they're not going to confiscate the guns?

Although law enforcement, security guards and others who require weapons for work are exempt from the measure, current handgun owners would have to surrender their firearms by April.
Well, where have we seen that tactic before? History hasn't smiled kindly on a disarmed populace.

Michelle Malkin has a nice roundup here.

The MRA fires back.

Let's quash this idiocy in San Francisco, shall we?

LGF still going hard on the Paris riots while MSM is MIA

Charles Johnson's Little Green Footballs keeps the coverage of the French Intifada "on the front pages". He includes a particularly stunning map from the The Economist which shows key flashpoints countrywide. And it is countrywide. Meanwhile, France burns - Day 16.

The MSM has forgotten, but Rambix won't.

Church leaders gather amidst intolerant homosexual proponents

Church leaders, pastors and priests from around Minnesota gathered at Grace Church in Eden Prairie today to formulate a strategy to oppose potential homosexual marriages. "Gay" marriage is not currently legal, but we all know that the liberals own enough judges to overcome DOMA (Defense of Marriage Act). The ultimate protection is a Constitutional Amendment. Texas just became the 19th state to pass such an amendment.

What the homosexual lobby doesn't want you to know is that Americans overwhelmingly favor protecting marriage between one man and one woman. While it is clear that there is greater acceptance generally of alternative lifestyles, the "gay" activists are overreaching with the push for homosexual marriage. They have created backlash, which is evident in the polls.

Today's peaceful gathering was disrupted by a bomb threat, which resulted in the church being evacuated. This is tolerance? Why won't the activists allow diversity of opinion and belief? The credibility of the bomb threat is not clear, but the Red Star played it down in any event. Had there been a bomb threat on a pro-homosexual gathering, you can be sure it would make headlines.

Speakers at the summit urged pastors to use their influence with members of their congregations and to direct pressure on legislators. They heard from two Kansas pastors who worked to pass a gay marriage ban in that state, a movement that eventually led to the ouster of several dozen state lawmakers who opposed the measure.

Pastor Terry Fox of Immanuel Baptist Church in Wichita told the group that pastors in Kansas decided to mobilize when they realized no one else would step up.

"We came to the realization that our culture was going to hell,'' Fox said. "We couldn't even believe we had to have a debate about marriage being between one man and one woman.''
We can't believe it either, Pastor Fox, but we have liberals to thank for the degeneration of our culture.

Paris riots and the courage of the Washington Times

Reporters David Sands and Sharon Behn, and the editors of the Washington Times show rare courage today in publishing an article which says what everyone knows, but the MSM has been afraid to say: "Rioters are Muslims, but don't say it".

In this age of "tolerance" and "diversity" and "multiculturalism", we often find a twisted portrayal of reality in the mainstream media. Many newspapers, like the Red Star, take great pains to suppress reference to race (in the event of bad news only) and national origin (if it will reflect poorly on the subject). This is called social engineering, which has nothing to do with the truth.

So the courage of the Washington Times is evident:

The rioters who have burned out neighborhoods in cities across France for a fortnight are overwhelmingly of North African and Arab ancestry, overwhelmingly young, overwhelmingly male, overwhelmingly cut off culturally and economically from the larger French society -- and overwhelmingly Muslim.

But saying they're Muslim is a subject of angry dispute. French officials downplay the religious connections, and some newspapers, particularly in the United States, avoid identifying the rioters as Muslim.
By downplaying the fact that most of the rioters in France are Muslim, it ignores the possibility that the impetus for the unrest may be Jihad/Islamic fundamentalist terror. This hasn't yet been shown to be the case, and the subject is in dispute, and the possibility is on the table. Islamic fundamentalist terror is obviously an active movement, and it would be irresponsible to hide that fact.

We salute the courage of the Washington Times. The fact that the rioters are Muslim may or may not be relevant, but what's wrong with letting the reader decide?

French riots waning? Belgium riots intensifying? Where's the truth?

Jihad Watch reports unrest in Belgium (hat tip: Anti-Strib) via Expatica. Expatica reports "Arrests, injuries as unrest continues across Belgium".

9 November 2005

BRUSSELS — In the third successive night of unrest in Belgium, vandals torched cars, trucks and cellars in Antwerp, Brussels and Ghent on Tuesday, while two suspected arsonists were arrested after they were admitted to hospital for burns injuries.

Belgian police suspect agitators are committing copy-cat acts to the arson attacks witnessed during heavy rioting in France in the past two weeks.
The French riots are already being pushed off the front pages by other world events, including the bombing in Jordan. That is typical of the news cycle, but the unrest in France, and apparently Belgium, is a fundamental problem, and is not going away soon. The immediate unrest might dissipate, but it's only a matter of time before it explodes in a big way again. The signs have been there in the Netherlands, Germany, Italy, France, and of course Britain. We hold little hope that any meaningful preventive action will occur; Eurabia is rife with denial.

Although the French and Belgian riot news has been pushed out of the headlines by events in Jordan, it's all part of the same issue, and should not be overlooked.

Belgian police suspect agitators are committing copy-cat acts to the arson attacks witnessed during heavy rioting in France in the past two weeks.

However, a spokesman for the federal government's crisis centre said each case was an "isolated" incident and that there were no large gathering of youths. The crisis centre also said there were no clashes with police.
It's difficult to get an accurate handle on the situation, because events are fluid. The MSM is also eager to downplay the events, so look for it to disappear from news reports sooner rather than later. In any event, we'll be watching.

Another good man dies in Minneapolis violence

The voters of Minneapolis have failed to hold mayor Ryback accountable for his failure to control violent criminals in his city. Unlike most larger cities in America, violent crime has increased in Minneapolis under Ryback's watch. Tom Dahl, a young father and Minneapolis taxpayer, recently became a victim, one of a long list of victims in Minneapolis, as documented through the summer in this blog, of mayor Ryback's violent city.

As mayor Ryback celebrates his reelection today, Tom Dahl's young family plans his funeral.

"We lost a great person," said his wife, Kathy Dahl. "It may be part of God's plan that we don't understand."
Mr. Dahl, age 35, white-collar professional, was doing what many Minneapolis victims were doing at the time of their demise - visiting the city for entertainment.

Last Wednesday night, Dahl went out with his co-workers from Elan Financial Services. It was a semiregular outing where the group would "gab all night," his wife said.

They were dispersing when Dahl apparently went to get a cab. About an hour later -- 1:15 a.m. Thursday -- officers found him lying on the ground with severe head injuries, possibly inflicted with a piece of wood found at the scene.
While it may sound harsh to connect this crime to mayor Ryback, even peripherally, the decline of the city under his tenure is remarkable. In fact, the overwhelming amount of violent crime in Minneapolis being perpetrated on the "average person", the visitor to the city, was the impetus for the birth of this blog. There are too many entries to detail here, but a review of the archives will reveal too many shocking crimes for Ryback to be absolved of at least some part of the blame.

Mayor Ryback is quoted in the Red Star today as saying "I was born in a great city [Minneapolis], it's a better city today, and the best is yet to come". Would Tom Dahl's widow and his two young children agree?

France tries appeasement for a change

The impotent leaders of France (excluding Sarkozy) are going to try a new ploy to stop the rioters - pay them. The spineless French leaders, including Chirac and de Villepin, are so bereft of ideas, so devoid of creativity, so morally bankrupt, they don't know what to do other than pay the criminals:

Mr. Villepin also outlined a package of economic and social measures to try to address the entrenched racial discrimination and chronic unemployment that have bred resentment and alienation in the suburbs, which have large populations of West African and North African origin.
The French leadership have disgraced themselves in front of the world. They have been exposed as hypocrits. When America suffered hurricane Katrina, and our underclass criminal element showed it's ugly face, the French claimed America was racist and discriminatory of minorities, who comprised most of the victims in New Orleans.

Now the chickens have come home to roost for the French. They have shown to the world that they are the hypocrits, that they are racist and intolerant, that they marginalize immigrants.

This is not to say that the rioters are victims with a righteous cause. They are not. They are just as despicable as the French leadership. They are not stupid, however. They know that the French are gutless, and will take nothing more than "stern measures". Soon enough, if the lawlessness continues, their options will start to look like those that George Bush faced in the face of evil. They will be forced to take George Bush-like measures. The hypocrites will be humbled.

President Jacques Chirac, who called an emergency cabinet meeting to adopt the curfew decree, said nothing publicly today, continuing to keep a low profile amid the worst unrest here in a generation. That lack of public visibility by Mr. Chirac, who suffered what was thought to be a mild stroke in September, has contributed, critics say, to an atmosphere of political drift during a time of crisis.
If Chirac suffered a stroke in September, watch what happens to him in December if the unrest continues. Now isn't it ironic that the above description of Chirac is virtually verbatim of how the French and the MSM have described George Bush during various crises he has faced over the last couple of years?

Chirac is now experiencing real trouble, and he's folding like a house of cards.

The terrorists smell the fear of the French leaders. They see the weakness. The terrorists will not be appeased. The appeasement will only make them stronger. France's troubles are only beginning.

The cancer of radical Islam fuels continuing riots in France

Clear thinking Americans saw the danger of festering, radical Islam in France long before the current terrorist hostile takeover of France. The signs have been there, for those who cared to look. The cancer that has been metastasizing in much of Europe has now reached critical mass in France.

In France, the agenda of radical Islam has been aided, abetted, and enabled by the multiculturalist, socialist cabal that pretends to run the country. French society, through Liberte, Equalite, Fraternite, has effectively ceded power to the underclass. The Muslim population of France, as noted in previous posts, is nearly 10% of the population. The Muslim underclass has been allowed to live in France without assimilating, has been allowed to lead unproductive lives on the dole, and has been allowed to foment hatred for the West without repercussion. The result is what we see in the news today. France is on fire, and this may only be the beginning.

The French leaders are in the process of capitulating to the terrorists. They promise that the depair and hopelessness of the Muslim underclass will be addressed. Well, is not past behavior the best indicator of future behavior? We hold no hope that French leadership will rise to the occasion.

[Rambix has previously written about French hypocrisy, in "The benefits of socialism, French style".]

When French leadership is inconsistent in their application of stated policy, when they kowtow to Muslim fundamentalists, and when they hesitate (as they now have) in the face of great danger, then they have lost their country.

[Britain's Telegraph newspaper must have read Rambix' 11/6/05 post, titled ""Youths" riot in Paris, Chirac fiddles". Their version on 11/7/05 is "Leaders fiddle as France burns".]

Socialism, appeasement, and weak leadership has failed the French citizenry, many of whom are probably decent people. They will suffer dearly for the naivete of French society in these perilous times.

Incredible, but true

This, from a Minneapolis PD dispatch dated 11/7/05. Note the number of previous arrests of the "suspects" for ROBPER (robbery of persons), CAPRS (computer assisted police records system), RECVEH (stolen vehicle):

Since the 1st of this month there have been 15 reported robberies in Sector One of the Fifth Precinct, mostly occurring in the Whittier Neighborhood but also in Stevens Square, Lowry Hill East and Lowry Hill. Suspect information varies, but Officers of the Fifth Precinct made an arrest on 1st Avenue S. and 26th Street at 01:28 on 11/7/05. The victim was walking home from his girlfriends when he was stopped by a white, early 90’s, Lincoln Town Car. The passenger, B/M 6’1”, medium build, wearing a black puffy bomber jacket, exited and approached the victim implying he had a gun and said, “Give it up.” There were three occupants in the vehicle. The victim backed away and called 911. The vehicle proceeded NB on Nicollet.

Officers Brown and Joseph located the vehicle that had run out of gas. Two suspects were taken into custody and were IDed in a show up by the victim. A third suspect was located at the Super America at 22nd and Lyndale by Officer McMahon in 952.
· Suspect 1: Shon Davenport, 91 CAPRS arrests. Listed in five ROBPER and 8 RECVEH in MPD CAPRS.
· Suspect 2: Tracy Ford, 26 CAPRS arrests and listed in three ROBPER.
· Suspect 3: Emmett Harvey, 35 CAPRS arrests, listed in 1 ROBPER
If you doubt that Minneapolis and Hennepin County practices revolving door justice, just look at the number of arrests of these career criminals. It's so far beyond the pale, there's really nothing to say. It's just more of the same.

By the way, incumbent Minneapolis mayor is looking to get re-elected tomorrow. Minneapolis residents - consider your vote carefully.
