St. Paul Murder Near KSTP Studio

KSTP Eyewitness News reports a murder which occurred right outside their building at 3:00 a.m. this morning (5/29/06): "Man shot dead outside KSTP building".

One man was shot dead on a sidewalk outside the KSTP building at University Ave. and Berry St. in St. Paul Monday morning.

The shooting occurred at approximately 3 a.m. about 50 feet north of University on Berry.

A KSTP employee heard multiple shots and has a witness description which, of course, you won't see in the Red Star.

"I just heard gunshots, about six of them,” said the witness, who requests to remain anonymous.

The witness says the two suspects left the scene in a van.

"I saw 2 young black males walk across the parking lot and it look like they got in a white vehicle, the witness said.

A retired police officer who works as a guard at KSTP called 911 and watched the scene.

”I went out and checked on the man and he was obviously DOA,” says Ken Miller.

In fact, even though the witness specifically stated that the suspects were "two young black males", the Red Star has no suspect description: "Man fatally shot in St. Paul early today".
