Minneapolis Robbers Caught In The Act

The Minneapolis Police SAFE Unit has issued notice that police officers responded to an armed robbery in progress and made several arrests, including that of a 6 foot 7 inch, 290 pounder.

These brave officers handled this extremely dangerous situation with professionalism, and the result is no one got hurt. Blogger props to Officer Brandon Brugger, Officer Pat McMahon, K9 Helmet, Officer Chad Fuchs, and others not named.

(Minneapolis, MN May 24, 2006) On May 23rd at 6:45 p.m., Minneapolis officers responded to an armed robbery of business at 3703 Dight Avenue South. Officer Brandon Brugger, working by himself, arrived at the scene finding this was actually a robbery in progress. Officer Brugger arrested one suspect as the suspect was trying to leave the business. As additional officers arrived, it was learned that other suspects were possibly armed and still inside the business. Officers secured the perimeter of the building and called for K-9.

Officers also learned this was a take over style robbery; the suspects were all armed with guns and had identified themselves as police officers as they entered the business. At gunpoint, the suspects robbed the owner of the business, two employees, and a customer of their wallets.

A Minneapolis police entry team, including Officer Pat McMahon and his K-9 partner Helmut, entered the building. The building is made up of multiple garage areas cluttered with automobiles in various states of repair, auto parts, and various automotive fluids on the floor making the search difficult. K-9 Helmut located a 6 foot 7 inch, 290 pound suspect hiding in a far corner of the business. Officer Chad Fuchs located a second suspect hiding inside a RV camper in the garage.

Officers located several items of evidence at the scene, including a loaded handgun and body armor left behind by the suspects. Officers also recovered a wallet owned by one the victims inside a suspect’s pants pocket. Three suspects arrested for Felony Probable Cause Robbery. One suspect fled prior to officers arriving.

Photos of the three arrested parties will not be available until after criminal charging.
