Robbery BOLO: "Young men"

The Minneapolis Police Safe Unit has issued a Crime Alert following robberies with violence in the Bryn Mawr, Harrison and Willard-Hay Neighborhoods of Minneapolis:

Bryn Mawr, Harrison and Willard-Hay Neighborhoods August 2, 2006

Facts:

From July 26-29, six women reported having their purses taken [Ed. Taken? No, stolen] from them. These robberies occurred between the hours of about 6:20 a.m. and 7:00 p.m.

The thieves are usually in groups of four. They are described as young males between the ages of 13 and 16. Sometimes they are on bicycles. They usually wear white T-shirts.

Sometimes these young men ambush their victims from behind. In one instance the group kicked, beat and punched the victim to gain compliance. They dragged her down her driveway to the street when she would not relinquish her purse. She was physically hurt in this encounter, and finally gave them her purse when she could no longer hold onto it.

The thugs "dragged her down her own driveway". What a city!

But...you'll be ok if you avoid being on the streets between 6:20 a.m. and 7:00 p.m.

And there is no description given for these animals, so be on the lookout for "four young men".

Then call Mayor Rybak and see if he'll personally escort you as you go to and from your home in Minneapolis.
